How a Microsoft exam voucher works
Three steps from checkout to sitting the exam.
What you receive
After purchase you receive a voucher code by email, sent to the address used at checkout. The code covers the fee for a single attempt at the exam you bought it for. It is not transferable between exams, so check the exam code on the product page before you buy.
Redeeming on the Microsoft portal
You redeem the code on Microsoft’s own certification portal, signed in with the Microsoft account you want the certification recorded against. The code is entered at the payment step of booking, where it replaces the exam fee. Use the same account you already hold any Microsoft certifications under, so your transcript stays in one place.
Booking online or at a test centre
Once redeemed you choose between an online proctored sitting and a physical test centre. Online sittings need a quiet private room, a working webcam and a system check run beforehand. Test centres suit anyone without a suitable room at home. Both routes use the same voucher.
Region, expiry and refunds
Four things worth knowing before you buy.
Vouchers are region-specific
Microsoft sets exam pricing per country, so each voucher is issued for a specific region and is valid only for exams booked in that region. Pick the country you will actually be tested in — not where you happen to be buying from — because a voucher issued for one region cannot be reassigned to another after purchase.
Expiry and validity
Every Microsoft voucher carries a fixed expiry date that cannot be extended, and the exact date varies by batch. Check the expiry before you buy, and schedule your exam before that date.
One code, one attempt
A voucher code is single use. Once it has been redeemed against a booking it is spent, whether or not you sit or pass the exam, and a failed attempt does not return the code. To move an exam date, reschedule through the Microsoft portal rather than buying a second voucher.

The region you choose, the current price and the expiry date that applies to a particular batch are all set out on that exam’s own product page rather than here, because they change between batches. Unredeemed codes are covered by our standard refund policy.

How quickly does the code arrive?
Codes are emailed to the address used at checkout once the order is processed. If it has not arrived, check your spam folder first, then contact us with your order number.

No. A voucher is tied to the exam it was bought for. If you need a different exam, buy the voucher for that exam.
What happens if I fail the exam?
The code is spent once it has been redeemed against a booking, so a retake needs a new voucher. Microsoft applies its own waiting period between attempts, so check that before rebooking.
