How an AWS exam voucher works

Three steps from checkout to sitting the exam.

    1. What you receive

After purchase you receive a voucher code by email, sent to the address used at checkout. The code covers the fee for a single attempt at the exam you bought it for. It is not transferable between exams, so match the exam code on the product page — CLF-C02, SAA-C03, SCS-C03 and so on — to the exam you actually intend to sit.

    2. Registering and redeeming with AWS

You redeem the code when you schedule the exam from your AWS Certification Account. Sign in with the account you want the certification recorded against, choose your exam and your delivery option, then enter the voucher code at the payment step, where it replaces the exam fee. Use the same account you already hold any AWS certifications under so your record stays in one place.

    3. Online proctored or test centre

When you schedule, you choose between an online proctored sitting and a physical test centre. Online sittings need a quiet private room, a working webcam and a system check run beforehand. Test centres suit anyone without a suitable room at home. The same voucher covers either route. If your code has not arrived or you are unsure which exam you bought, contact us with your order number.

    Validity, expiry and refunds

Four things worth knowing before you buy.

    Expiry and validity

Every AWS voucher carries a fixed expiry date that cannot be extended, and the exact date varies by batch. The expiry that applies to your voucher is shown on that voucher’s own product page — check it before you buy, and schedule your exam before that date.

    One exam, one code

A voucher code is single use. Once it has been redeemed against a booking it is spent, whether or not you sit or pass the exam, and a failed attempt does not return the code. A retake needs a new voucher, and AWS applies its own waiting period between attempts at the same exam, so check that before you rebook.

    Rescheduling and refunds

If you need to move your exam date, reschedule it from your AWS Certification Account rather than buying a second voucher, and do it before the voucher’s expiry date. AWS sets its own notice period for rescheduling without losing the booking. Unredeemed codes are covered by our standard refund policy.

Check the product page before you buy

The details that apply to a specific voucher — its current price, its expiry date and anything particular to that batch — are set out on that exam’s own product page rather than here, because they change between batches.

    Choosing the right AWS certification

AWS groups its certifications into five levels: Business, Foundational, Associate, Professional and Specialty. EvolveSkill stocks vouchers at the four levels below; the Business level is not stocked. If you are not sure which exam you need, start from the work you want to be doing rather than from the level.

    1. Foundational

Assumes no prior AWS work: core services, pricing models, the shared responsibility model and how the pieces fit together. The entry point if cloud itself is new to you.

    2. Associate

The working level, and where most people with cloud experience start. Split by what you actually do: design the systems, build on them, run them, or move the data through them.

    3. Professional

The step up from the associate exams. All three assume real production experience rather than study alone, so they are worth booking once you have shipped and run something.

    4. Specialty

Depth in a single domain rather than breadth across the platform: identity, data protection, logging and incident response, for people already working in the role.

If you have not worked with AWS before, start at CLF-C02. If you already administer or build on cloud infrastructure, most people go straight to SAA-C03 or DVA-C02, depending on whether you design the systems or write the code that runs on them. AWS exam voucher questions, answered

    What exactly am I buying?

A prepaid code that covers the fee for one attempt at one AWS certification exam. You register and schedule the exam yourself from your AWS Certification Account and enter the code instead of paying the fee.

How does the code reach me?

Codes are emailed to the address used at checkout once the order is processed. If it has not arrived, check your spam folder first, then contact us with your order number.

Where do I redeem an AWS voucher?

At the payment step when you schedule the exam from your AWS Certification Account. Sign in with the account you want the certification recorded against before you book.

    When does the voucher expire?

Every AWS voucher carries a fixed expiry date that cannot be extended, and the exact date varies by batch. The expiry that applies to your voucher is shown on that voucher’s own product page — check it before you buy, and schedule your exam before that date.

Can I use one voucher for a different AWS exam?

No. A voucher is tied to the exam it was bought for. If you need a different exam, buy the voucher for that exam.

What happens if I fail the exam?

The code is spent once it has been redeemed against a booking, so a retake needs a new voucher. AWS applies its own waiting period between attempts at the same exam, so check that before rebooking.

Can I sit the exam from home?

Yes. When you schedule, you choose between an online proctored sitting and a physical test centre. Online sittings require a quiet private room, a webcam and a system check beforehand.

Which AWS exam should I start with?

CLF-C02 (Cloud Practitioner) if you are new to AWS. If you already work with cloud infrastructure, SAA-C03 or DVA-C02 is the usual starting point, depending on whether you design systems or build on them.
