How to Choose the Right CompTIA Exam Voucher

A CompTIA exam voucher is a code you enter when you book your exam with Pearson VUE. It pays the exam fee for one exam. The right voucher matches your exact exam code, expires after the day you plan to sit the exam, and comes from a seller whose terms you have read.

This guide explains what a voucher covers, five checks to make before you buy, why exam retirement dates matter, what CompTIA says about discount codes and unauthorized sellers, and how to redeem a voucher. Chapter 1: What a CompTIA exam voucher covers

CompTIA’s voucher terms set the rules, whoever sells the voucher. The points that matter most:

• One voucher applies to one exam.
• Vouchers are exam series specific, and in some cases exam code specific.
• Vouchers are country and currency specific.
• A voucher is valid for the period shown on it, and expiration dates cannot be extended.
• Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash or credit, and they may not be resold.
• CompTIA says all voucher purchases are final: you may not return, refund or exchange them.

A voucher does not book your exam. An ordinary single-exam voucher does not include study materials or a retake. CompTIA sells separate bundles that add learning products and Retake Assurance, such as its Security+ Complete Bundle with Retake, which lists CertMaster Learn, Labs, Practice and a voucher with Retake Assurance.

Chapter 2: Five checks before you buy

Run these checks before you pay, whoever the seller is.

Chapter 3: Exam versions and retirement dates

CompTIA retires exams on its own schedule. Under its terms, once an exam has retired, vouchers for it are no longer valid, even when the date on the voucher is later. The table shows what CompTIA’s exam pages said on October 9, 2026.

“Estimated” means CompTIA’s page says an exam usually retires three years after launch. It is not a fixed date, so check CompTIA’s exam page again before you buy.

Chapter 4: Prices, discount codes and coupons

We do not list CompTIA prices in this guide. A voucher’s price depends on the exam, your country, the seller and the date, and prices quoted on third-party pages vary and go out of date. What is real: CompTIA’s own offers

• CompTIA’s website invites visitors to enter an email address to receive a 10% off promo code. We saw this offer on October 9, 2026, and offers change.
• CompTIA sells bundles that include a voucher with Retake Assurance, such as the Security+ Complete Bundle with Retake.
• CompTIA has Academic pages for students. Check CompTIA for current eligibility and terms.

What is risky: codes from other sources

CompTIA’s voucher terms say that anyone who uses an unauthorized discount or promotional code may have their exam results invalidated and face further penalties, up to a lifetime ban on future exams and the cancellation of earlier certifications.

Chapter 5: How to spot a risky voucher offer

CompTIA’s terms recommend buying vouchers directly from the CompTIA Store, directly from CompTIA through a sales representative, or from a CompTIA Authorized Partner. We found no public list of authorized voucher resellers on CompTIA’s partner page, so ask any seller where its vouchers come from.

Chapter 6: How to redeem your voucher and book

You redeem a voucher and book your exam on CompTIA’s and Pearson VUE’s systems, not on the seller’s site. According to CompTIA’s scheduling page:

2. 02Open the exam management section and choose to schedule an exam. CompTIA sends you to Pearson VUE.
3. 03On Pearson VUE, select your exam code and language, agree to the testing policies, and choose a test center or online delivery through OnVUE.
4. 04Pick a date and time, review the appointment, and pay by credit card or with an exam voucher.

CompTIA’s terms say you must reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment. If you reschedule later, or do not show up, you lose the exam fee.

Buy when you are nearly ready

EvolveSkill guidance: buy your voucher when your preparation is nearly finished, not months ahead. The expiry date does not move, and exams retire. If you are still preparing, finish that first and book when your practice results are steady.

If you do not pass

CompTIA’s retake policy does not require a waiting period between your first and second attempts. Before a third or later attempt, you must wait at least 14 calendar days from your last attempt. A single-exam voucher covers one attempt, so a retake needs another voucher or a retake option such as CompTIA’s Retake Assurance bundles.

FAQ

Are CompTIA exam voucher discount codes real?

Some are. CompTIA’s website offers a 10% off promo code in exchange for an email address, as we saw on October 9, 2026, and offers change. CompTIA’s voucher terms warn that using an unauthorized discount or promotional code can lead to invalidated results and further penalties. Use only codes issued by CompTIA or by the seller you are buying from. See Chapter 4.

How much does a CompTIA exam voucher cost?

It depends on the exam, your country, the seller and the date. We do not quote prices here because they change and published figures disagree. Check the price for your exam code and currency at checkout. EvolveSkill shows its price for each exam on the product page.

Does a CompTIA voucher expire, and can I extend it?

Yes, it expires on the date shown, and CompTIA says expiration dates cannot be extended. You must register and take the exam before that date.

What happens if my exam retires before my voucher expires?

Can I use a voucher for an older exam version, such as SY0-501 or SY0-601?

Not once that exam has retired. CompTIA vouchers are exam series specific, and vouchers for a retired exam are no longer valid. Check the exam code before you buy.

Can I get a refund on a CompTIA voucher, or sell it?

CompTIA’s terms say voucher purchases are final, and vouchers may not be resold or redeemed for cash or credit. A seller’s own policy may allow cancellation before a voucher is issued. Read the seller’s policy before you pay.

Is it safe to buy a CompTIA voucher from a reseller?

CompTIA recommends buying from the CompTIA Store, CompTIA sales or a CompTIA Authorized Partner, and says a voucher bought from an unauthorized seller may be voided without a refund.
